Alert – Air District Conducting CMP Inspections in the Valley
The Association was notified this week that several farming operations in the Central Valley had recently been inspected by the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (Air District), specific to their Conservation Management Practices (CMP’s) plans. Upon review, the Air District was requesting the site-specific property mapping, and that any changes to the current on farm practices needed to be updated with the necessary forms. CMP Plans require that farms choose from a list of practices that aim to reduce emissions from on-farm activities, many practices listed are considered industry standards for their respective crops.
The CMP Rule has been in effect in the Central Valley for over two decades. Farms over 100 acres are required to complete a CMP Plan for their operation which includes:
Designated contact information
Farm identification map & crops grown
Conservation Management Practices identified for specific crops grown
CMP plans must be updated by the designated contact person if any changes to your operation or practices have occurred since your last CMP plan update form was submitted (i.e. purchased land, changed crops, updated practices on the approved list for CMP credit). If you have any questions, or have received a request for information from the San Joaquin Valley Air District, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Western Tree Nut Association.
